We tackle some key questions about your Vocal’s Gmobile® mobile services including activation of your SIM card, porting your mobile number and included features of your service.

Can I keep my mobile number?

Yes! your mobile number can easily be ported to Vocal from your current provider.

How do I know what size SIM card I need?

Our one-size-fits-all SIMs work in mobiles which use a standard, micro or nano SIM.

So if you’ve already got a phone you love or looking for a new mobile device from our exclusive range of Samsung mobiles that are packed with features and represent awesome value, you can still enjoy our great SIM only plans!

How long will my service take to activate?

It can take between 15mins and 4 hours for a SIM to activate.  If it’s still not active, try these steps or note the porting hours below: 

  • Periodically turn your device off and on
  • Remove and re-insert the SIM card to make sure it is seated correctly
  • Sync your device with any companion software/cloud service that it may have. 

If you request a port / switch to Optus outside of the hours listed below, your service will remain active with your existing provider until the next porting day:

  • Monday to Friday, 8am – 8pm AEST
  • Saturday, 10am – 6pm AEST (except national public holidays)
How do I set up my voicemail?

Once Voicemail is active (this takes between 15 minutes and 4 hours) you’ll get a default PIN sent via SMS.

  1. From your mobile dial 321
  2. Record your greeting
  3. Change your PIN
  4. Complete the tutorial

Make sure you change the PIN you’re sent. Your PIN maybe up to 9 digits, provided they are non-sequential (e.g. 1234) or aren’t a series of repeated numbers (e.g. 1111).

Help! I think my phone is lost or stolen?

If you have access to another phone, try calling your mobile number to see if you can hear your device ringing or if someone answers. (You can also try sending an SMS)

If your device has a ‘location feature’ (e.g. Find my iPhone), use it to locate your device. If your device is shown to be in an unfamiliar location, contact the police rather than recovering it yourself.

A) Bar the service

This prevents unauthorised outgoing calls, messages and cellular data (internet access). Barring may also deactivate other functions on your device.

 

Note: It can take up to 24 hours to bar the service.


B) Block the IMEI number

We’ll give you the option of blocking the IMEI number to prevent another SIM card being used in your device. The block applies to all carriers in Australia and will bar calls, SMS and data on your device.

Protect your personal data

Immediately change your usernames and / or passwords if you have mobile banking, social media, email; and/or utility applications on your device that hold or access your personal data. If your mobile device features a ‘remote wipe function’, consider using this to protect your personal data.

We recommend contacting your local police station to file a police report for all lost or stolen devices. The police will need to know your IMEI number to make a report. 

 

Awesome! I found my phone

If you’ve recovered your lost or stolen device call to let us know on 1300 796700 so we can unbar the service and unblock the IMEI number.

 

Note: It can take up to 24 hours to unbar your service and unblock your device

 

What is international roaming?

International roaming allows you to use your Vocal Mobile Number and Vocal SIM card to make/receive calls, send/receive messages, access email & mobile internet and check your voicemail in over 180 destinations across the world.

What should I check before I travel?

Make sure roaming is activated before you leave Australia.

Back up your contacts, photos and other important stuff, in case your phone is lost or stolen.

Make sure you buy a travel power adapter so you can charge your battery!

 

How do I set up international roaming?

You must request International Roaming to be activated as it is automatically switched off for all new Vocal mobile customers.

How much does International Roaming cost?

There is no cost to activate the service however call and data charges can be very expensive and are not included and are charged according to the country in which you are visiting and using the service.

We recommend that our customers reduce their usage of the Vocal service whilst overseas and connect your device to a Wi-Fi service such as in your hotel room and make calls using Skype, WhatsApp or our Vocal BizPhone service.

VOCAL CHANNELS PTY LIMITED — MASTER TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. Agreement structure and acceptance

1.1 By submitting an application and clicking “I agree”, you accept these Master Terms & Conditions, our Website Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy, and the applicable Critical Information Summary (CIS) for each product/plan you select. Where these documents conflict, the CIS for that product/plan prevails for pricing, inclusions, minimum terms and early termination consequences.
1.2 We may update or replace our Website Terms of Service by posting changes to our site; continued use after posting constitutes acceptance. Product descriptions and prices may be modified or discontinued at any time as permitted by our Website TOS.
1.3 Governing law. These terms and any separate agreements for services are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.

2. Application form; precedence; work-in-progress

2.1 Application form is binding once we accept and activate service. We may correct obvious errors/omissions in the application form; if there’s any inconsistency, the relevant CIS and these T&Cs take precedence.
2.2 Because products evolve, non-price/feature descriptions in the application form may be adapted as the service is provisioned, provided there is no reduction of the inclusions or increase to charges beyond what your CIS permits. Any material change will be notified; if you do not agree, you may exercise any termination rights available under your CIS. (Draft clause for counsel review.)

3. Ordering, activation and service dependencies

3.1 You must maintain service prerequisites (e.g., working broadband/mobile data; valid email/SMS destination for notifications; valid Calendly/Cal.com booking link if you request bookings). You are responsible for third-party carriage/telephony costs (e.g., PSTN/GSM, 1300 inbound).
3.2 Some products rely on third-party tools; we provide access “as is” and are not responsible for those tools or their terms.

4. Billing & payment (applies to all services unless your CIS states otherwise)

4.1 Billing cycle & pro-rata. We bill monthly in arrears; your first bill may include pro-rata charges aligned to activation. (See NBN CIS examples).
4.2 Payment terms. Standard payment terms are 14 days from invoice; late payment fee $10 per month may apply until paid. Credit card payments attract a 2% surcharge; Australia Post payments incur a $2 fee; AMEX/Diners not supported (as per CIS).
4.3 Paper bill. A $5 bill print fee applies if we mail your bill (if offered by the product CIS).
4.4 Plan changes. Where permitted, a $30 administration fee may apply to plan changes (see product CIS).
4.5 Prices/offer changes. We may change pricing or discontinue products consistent with our Website TOS.

5. Cancellations, contract term and early termination

5.1 Month-to-month services: you may cancel anytime effective end of the current billing cycle; no pro-rata credits or refunds. (See NBN/Wireless CIS examples.)
5.2 12/24-month services: early termination fees (ETF) may apply as set out in the CIS for that product/plan. (Wireless 24-month example shown in CIS.)
5.3 Order withdrawal. If you cancel after order submission but prior to connection, an order withdrawal fee may apply (see CIS — $200 in NBN examples).

6. Acceptable use & fair use

6.1 You must not use services illegally or in breach of third-party rights.
6.2 Where a CIS states that inclusions are subject to our Fair Use Policy (e.g., “Unlimited data”), that policy applies and excess/unreasonable use may be managed or restricted.

7. Service levels, modifications, liability and indemnity

7.1 We may modify or discontinue services or features consistent with our Website TOS, and are not liable for such modification, price change, suspension or discontinuance of the service.
7.2 No warranty that services will meet your expectations or that all errors will be corrected, subject to non-excludable rights.
7.3 To the maximum extent permitted by law, liability is limited as set out in our Website TOS.
7.4 You agree to indemnify us for losses arising from your breach of these terms or applicable documents.

8. Privacy

We collect, use and disclose personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which may include transferring limited information overseas subject to safeguards
